Industry Platform
on Medical Devices and Implants
The second call for proposal for BIPP funding
has included projects on Biosimilars / Biogenerics under category
II. The Industry platform on Biopharmaceuticals had proposed
this change in light of the innovation and risks associated
with the development of Biosimilars. The government has acknowledged
the complexity and has extended a helping hand to the industry
in view of the market potential and India’s capability
to exploit the opportunities that are opening up with drugs
going off patent. The Industry lauds the department for its
prompt action.
Industry Platform
on Agribiotechnology
The Four working groups met on April 9th
& 10th to discuss the interim draft of the strategic research
plans. The next meeting is proposed in Delhi with DBT and
Research Institutions for further refinement.

First Meeting for Industry Platform on Medical
Devices and Implants was held on 16 September 2009 in Federation

first meeting for Industry Platform on Medical Devices and
Implants was held on 16 September 2009 in New Delhi. Three
Working Groups have been created to formulate Strategic Research
Plans, which

- Support Services

Organisation Structure
The Platforms will have one Governing Board,
chaired by Secretary-DBT, for policy, guidance and final approvals
of all proposals.
A dedicated expert, with the support of FICCI,
will support each platform and will interface with the Industry
and follow up on ideas to fructify them into projects.
